Wankara was founded in 2011 in order to develop and expand the field of percussion in Chamber music, being a versatile group capable to navigate in different musical styles, which directs its work in the search for new sounds, as well as venture into contemporary music, Colombian music, from the interpretation of written works for percussion as adaptations or arrangements of classical repertoire, romantic, etc. It aims to open the professional panorama of percussion and chamber music to the working environment in cooperation with other disciplines in the exploration of the possibilities of the artist as a unit.

Members Guillermo Andrés Ospina, Brigitte Natalia Escobar, Luis Gabriel Reyes (graduates of the National University of Colombia), Oscar Eduardo Romero and Elkin David Ortega (students of the National University of Colombia), as well as having belonged to the ensemble of percussion Contempo of the same University (group with 17 years experience in the academic music scene of the country) have participated in important and renowned orchestras and groups of Colombia such as the Symphonic Band of Cundinamarca, National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia, Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, Bogota Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Band of the National army of Colombia and Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Colombia; experiences that bring high quality and professionalism to the musical work developed by the group.

Between 2012 and 2013 the group was the winner of the calls: contest cycles of concerts of chamber music for all audiences, modality Music of all times, carried out by the district-wide program for stimuli 2012, Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra; Young talents of the music 2013, organized by the Alliance Française; Artistic Program of the Gilberto Alzate Avendano Foundation 2013, and the I Festival of Chamber Music from the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Also worth mentioning that the presence in the concert Retratos de un compositor (2014), an event organized annually by the Central Bank of Colombia and that on this occasion was dedicated to the master Francisco Zumaque, whose participation was with the work "Uruti".

They have performed at the most prestigious stages of the capital such as the Auditorium Olav Roots, where they made a tribute to American composer John Cage titled "JOHN CAGE - 100 años de vida ", the Virgilio library, the El Parque Theatre, Teatro Libre, Teatro Julio Mario Santo Domingo, within the concert of young talents of the Salvi Foundation in commemoration of the Festival of music of the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation and the Concert Hall of the Luis Angel Arango library.

On the other hand, they have been involved in the educational initiatives that have been carried out in different schools of the city between the Maleta Pedagógica project, launched by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, and the traveling music program to compensate for (2013 - 2014). 

In training area stands out their active participation in workshops with Chamber groups of international stature as So percussion (United States) and Tambuco (Percussion assembly of Mexico), as well as in the Group of logistics of the International Convention of the society of Arts of percussion (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) in versions 2012 (Austin, Texas) and 2013 (Indianapolis Indiana). They also took an important step to be multipliers of Colombian musical traditions through a Colombian music workshop in 2012 at the University of Minnesota in collaboration with the master Fernando Meza, Professor on the area of percussion from the same institution.
